On the Welcome to TaxCut screen, click File Extension.
Review the information on the Filing an Extension screen, and click Next
Go through the topics in the Welcome section until you reach the Your Extension screen.
Select one of the following:
Do
a Quick Extension
Select this option to enter the minimum information you need to
complete and file your extension. This is a good option if you don't have
a lot of time and can completely estimate the taxes you owe.
Go
Through Federal Interview to Complete Extension
Select this option to enter all of the tax information you have
in your tax return using our Federal Interview. When you've finished,
TaxCut takes you to the Extension to File topic where to help you complete
your extension. This is a good option if you have more time and want to
use the information you have to estimate the tax you owe.
Proceed through the rest of the Federal Interview screens to complete your extension.
Once you finish preparing your federal extension, TaxCut checks it for any errors. If TaxCut finds any errors, you can make changes to your extension and/or correct errors directly on the Error Check Report.
Once you complete the federal extension Interview, TaxCut takes you to the Choose Your Federal Extension or Federal Tax Return screen so that you can file your federal extension.
Notes:
This is an extension of time to file only. You are still expected to estimate and pay any taxes you owe with your extension by April 15th.
After you complete and file your federal extension, TaxCut walks you through completing and filing your federal and state tax return.
We strongly recommend that you use the Interview to complete your extension. If you choose to complete your extension by entering data directly on Form 4868 using Forms Central, you cannot e-file your extension.
