Displaying IRS Instructions

TaxCut contains IRS instructions for all of the official tax forms included in TaxCut.

To read the official IRS instructions related to an Interview topic:

  1. Use the Take Me To... button to go to an Interview topic. See Finding an Interview Topic.
  2. Click the Help button on the top right of the TaxCut main window.
  3. When Help Central opens, TaxCut displays a browse page which provides links to areas of help related to the topic you are accessing.
  4. Click on the link to the IRS instructions.

To read the official IRS instructions for a tax form:

  1. Open one of the official IRS tax forms in TaxCut. See Opening a Form for more information.
  2. Click the Help button.
  3. When Help Central opens, TaxCut displays a browse page which provides links to areas of help related to the form you are accessing.
  4. Click on the link to the IRS instructions.

To search for a specific topic:

The table of contents on the left side of the Help Central window allows you to access the section of the instructions that you want to read.

  1. Click on the book for the form or schedule you want.

  2. Click on the book that contains the section you want.

  3. Click on the topic in that section. The instructions are displayed in the right pane of the Help Central window.

To jump to related instructions:

Any text you see highlighted in blue is linked to another part of the instructions. Click on the blue text to jump to that part of the instructions. Click the Back button at the top of the Help Central window to return to your previous place.

To print instructions:

To print the instructions currently displayed, click the Print button. To print all the instructions for a form, use the Back and Next buttons at the top of the Help Central window to display each instructions topic for that form, and print each topic.

To close Help Central:

Click the Close button.
