Correcting Errors Before E-Filing

When you file your return electronically or by paper, TaxCut reviews your return for any problems, such as missing data or inconsistencies. If you are filing electronically, TaxCut also tells you if your tax situation disqualifies you from electronic filing.

When problems are found, TaxCut groups the problems by form into errors and data verifications. You must correct all errors before you can file your return electronically. You don't need to clear all data verification messages. Some of these messages are just reminders.

To correct an error:

  1. Click the Fix Errors or Review Warnings button next to the problem. TaxCut displays the error or data verification message. TaxCut also displays the form and places the cursor in the field with the problem.

  2. Correct the error.

  3. Continue to go through each error and data verification message and make the necessary changes.
