Be sure to re-enable it after installing the software. Please have your Windows* CD handy. You may be prompted for it during the installation. + Installation Requires Space on Root Drive Even When Installing to Another Drive When installing the Intel Create & Share software to a drive other than the drive where the operating system's files reside (typically this is drive C:) ensure that there is at least 100 Mbytes of free disk space on the system drive. This space is needed to hold some temporary files and other of the files have to be in the Windows directory to work properly. + Changing Resolution or Color Depth Changing screen resolution or color depth while using the Intel Create & Share Software is not recommended. If you want to change your screen resolution or color depth, please close the software before doing so. + Power Management Settings May Disable the Video The Power Management settings in Windows may disable the camera if your computer goes into "suspend" or "standby" mode. When this happens, the camera remains disabled even after the system "wakes up". The disabling of the camera shows up as video corruption in video applications. The only way to restart the camera is to restart Windows*. To avoid this problem, you may want to disable the Power Management feature when using the Intel PC Camera. + Adding Audio to an Email Postcard When a Text Cutout is Selected When recording an audio file to add to an opened email postcard, ensure that no text cutout is selected on the email postcard when you record the audio file. If the text cutout is selected the audio file will not be attached to the email postcard, though it will be saved where you normally save audio files. The audio file can be added to the card using the Insert menu or the Insert button. + Slow Network Response Error with Email Postcard, Auto Snapshot, and Digital Puzzle If you have a live connection to the Internet and you get a slow network response error when sending emails, posting Auto Snapshots, or sending a digital puzzle you may need to change the Intel Create & Share Software's Options to use your Internet Service Provider's SMTP server. Contact your Internet Service Provider or network administrator to determine the SMTP server's name. Note: Before you change the following options, be sure to write down the name of the SMTP server and save this information. If you change the Options back to "Use default SMTP server," the name of the SMTP server is not retained in the Server Name text box for future use. To change the options for SMTP Server: 1 From the Intel Create & Share Home screen File menu, choose Options. 2 On the Advanced tab click "Use SMTP server as specified." 3 In the Server Name box, type the SMTP server's name. 4 To save the change, click OK. 5 Try sending or posting again. + Camera not Available when Connected after Application is Started When you connect the camera after you have started an application that captures streaming video, such as Snapshot or Scene Recorder, the camera will not be available in that application until you close and re-open that application. + Intel(R) Create & Share(R) Software Freezes when Camera is Unplugged While Using any of the Live Video Applications When you disconnect your camera while any of the live video applications are running, the Intel Create & Share Software temporarily freezes and is not available for some time (up to 15 minutes). The software will eventually become available on its own. You can free up your camera manually by the following process: 1 Unplug the camera. 2 Close the running application. 3 Reattach the camera. 4 Restart the application. Note: Always close applications before unplugging your camera. + Restoring Intel(R) Create & Share(R) Software When Minimized on Windows* ME While using Intel(R) Video Email, clicking on the Windows* Show Desktop to restore the Intel Create & Share home screen or toolbar from its minimized state on the taskbar does not work. To restore the home screen or toolbar: From the Start menu choose: Start>Programs>Intel Create & Share Software>Intel Create & Share Software OR 1 Right-click on the Windows taskbar. 2 From the menu, choose "Undo Minimize All". + Audio Does Not Record From the Computer's CD Player Sometimes when recording audio from a CD in your computer's CD player using Intel Scene Recorder and Intel Audio Recorder, the audio is not recorded. Reasons for this include: - Some computer's CD players are directly wired to the computer's sound card, and the sound actually plays through the hardware, making it impossible to record. - When the CD is played through Windows* Media Player: o Disable digital playback in Windows Media Player. See Windows Media Player help for information on this. OR o Connect the CD player's output to the Line-In input of the sound card and choose Line-In input in Intel Audio Recorder Audio Input dialog. + Broadcast Live on Windows* XP On Windows* XP, you must be logged in as the Administrator for the iVISTA software to work properly. COMPATIBILITY + AVI Files from the Intel(R) Play QX3(TM) Computer Microscope May Freeze Intel(R) Create & Share(R) Software Applications If you open an AVI file from the Intel(R) Play QX3(TM) Computer Microscope in Intel(R) Scene Recorder or Intel(R) Movie Builder, and attempt to make any changes to that file, Scene Recorder or Movie Builder may freeze up. You can avoid this by the following process: 1 Open the AVI file in Scene Recorder or Movie Builder. 2 Make NO CHANGES to the AVI file. 3 Save the AVI file from Scene Recorder or Movie Builder. INTEL(R) VIRTUAL STUDIO + Re-recording Using the Same Background Video File When using an existing video file as the background for the current Virtual Studio video file, the result is a video that is approximately 1 second shorter than the original video file. Each time the shortened video file is used during a session it is shortened again by approximately 1 second. Continuing this enough times during a session could result in a video that is too short for any further use. Avoid using several generations of the same video, particulary short videos, as a background in the same session. + The Audio and Video of a Recording may be out of Synchronization or the Video is Choppy The computer's performance and its capabilities can affect the quality of the synchronization of the audio and video or can result in choppy videos. Some of the computer factors that affect recordings include: o Processor type, speed, and manufacturer o Hard drive speed o Total RAM o Memory speed o The operating system o Motherboard chipset o Encoder used for background video o Frame rate of background video (should be >15 frames per second) o Frame size of background video Choppy videos can occur when using background videos that have higher frame rates (for example, 30 frames per second recordings) and/or higher data rates (350-450 Kbps). Try using background video recorded at lower frame rates (15 frames per second or less) or lower data rates. You can re-record the background video at a lower frame rate using a video Codec such as Indeo* 5.1. On computers just meeting minimum requirements, the first 5 seconds of recording may appear to be missing video frames, excessively out of sync, or extremely choppy. This is a result of the processor's capabilities. If the videos you are producing exhibit these symptoms, re-record the video, or alter one or more of the things that may be causing the problem and then re-record. + Intel Virtual Studio Stops Working Rarely, Intel Virtual Studio stops working because of low system resources or the computer being on the low end of the system requirements. If Virtual Studio stops working, close it down and restart it. + Intel Virtual Studio Records Videos in Mirrored Mode By default videos are recorded in mirrored mode in Virtual Studio. This means that not only will the images in the video be mirrored but so will any text that might also be a part of the video. To avoid mirrored text, you can eliminate text from the foreground, or from the Intel PC camera settings you can set the camera image to mirrored. When Virtual Studio opens, it reverses whatever this camera setting is, so if it is mirrored in the camera settings, it will be unmirrored in Virtual Studio. + Selecting the Intel Camera if Your System has Multiple Video Capture Devices If video doesn't appear in the live video window when you launch Virtual Studio, your computer may have another video capture device that is designated as the device to be used for Virtual Studio. To select the Intel camera: 1 Click A/V Input on the "Get Ready To Go There" screen. 2 In the A/V Inputs dialog, under Video Input Device, select the Intel camera as the Active Camera from the pull-down list. 3 Click OK to close the A/V Inputs dialog. Live video through the Intel camera should now appear in the Virtual Studio live video window. INTEL GALLERY + "Mystery File" Slides Display as "?" In A Gallery Window The Intel Gallery only displays slides for image and video files whose types are recognized, but you may also occasionally see a "mystery file" slide (media icon with a large question mark) in a Gallery window. The Gallery displays this slide when it can't create a real slide for a file of a recognized type. These mystery files can be created when: - The media file is still opened by (under the control of) another application. If you need to see the slide or work with the file in the Gallery, make sure the other application has closed the file before trying to use it in the Gallery. - The file type is a variation or sub-type that is not supported by the Gallery. The Gallery can handle any of the supported file types as long as they are in a Windows-standard format. + Printing All Slides in a Gallery Printing all the slides in Gallery at full-size can take a long time. If printing seems to halt after the slide processing dialog disappears, the printer is simply storing up enough information to print all of the images before actually printing them. Try breaking up the print job into smaller jobs by selecting slides in the Gallery, and specifying Selection in the Print dialog. INTEL(R) AUTO SNAPSHOT + Power Saving and Auto Snapshot When Auto Snapshot is configured and running to take snapshots based on motion or post snapshots automatically to a web page, we recommend turning the Power Management feature of your computer off. Look in the help or the documentation for your computer to find information on turning Power Management off. INTEL PRO VIDEO CAMERA + Audio That is Part of External Video Cannot be Heard While Recording or Previewing While recording a video with audio from the Intel PC Camera using Intel(R) Scene Recorder, you cannot hear the audio associated with the video until you playback the recording. When using an external source like a video camcorder, you may not be able to hear the audio portion of the video either while previewing the video or recording from the video using Intel Scene Recorder. Once you are done recording from an external source, the recorded audio can be heard during playback. INTEL(R) HOME PAGE BUILDER + Intel(R) Home Page Builder and Microsoft* Internet Explorer 6.0 When you create home pages using Intel Home Page Builder on a computer running Internet Explorer 6.0, any video files incorporated into the home pages appear as blank frames in the published pages. Internet Explorer 6.0 does not support the plug-ins used by Intel Home Page Builder. To avoid the blank frames, try using a different browser, or a different version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. BROADCAST LIVE (Inetcam* IVISTA WEBCASTING) + Webcasting audio using Inetcam* IVISTA and the built-in microphone of the Intel Pro Video Camera on Windows* 98 If you attempt to webcast audio using Inetcam IVISTA and the built-in microphone of the Intel Pro Video Camera on Windows* 98 and it doesn't work, do the following: In IVISTA 1. Click Webcasting Options on the iVISTA window. 2. From the menu, choose Audio Options. 3. From the menu, choose Audio Settings. 4. On the Audio Server dialog, select the second microphone in the Input Source drop-down list. Note: If iVISTA exhibits this problem, but you don't fix it before exiting, Intel Video Phone will be without audio as well. To correct the problem for Intel Video Phone, launch Intel Video Email to set the input source to the camera's microphone.
