Thu Jun 07, 2007 ---------------- Beware that the game is somewhat of a RAM hauss; it uses an average of 300mb of RAM, and for no apparent reason. Something I really need to work on. But while I'm preparing it for a public release, I'll tell you a bit about it. 'Tis called Robo Go, hence the subject of this reply. Unoriginal and incaptivating name, I know. It will most likely change when it nears its stages of completion, which are seemingly far off-ish. Gameplay-wise, you can expect a Megaman X-like feel, which includes wall climbing and the ability to charge weapons. But in addition to that, it has quite a few of its own twists which include SRE (Self Repair Energy), weapon upgrades, and much more. The graphics are all-original. Each sprite and animation has been drawn by me, pixel by pixel. While they're not amazing by any means, they've suited it just well for now. I would like to note that, I would quite happily recruit a good spriter, background/foreground artist, and/or music and sound specialist for the project as permanent project members, given that they're somewhat dedicated. My own work is usually somewhat inconsistent, so it's fine if theirs is, too. Here are a couple of screenshots, and I'll get a recent public demo up soon. http://ddelectronics.powweb.com/bahoo/RoboSnapshot1.bmp http://ddelectronics.powweb.com/bahoo/RoboSnapshot2.bmp Another thing: There is no sound. I don't have the resources to create my own quality sound effects or midis for music. Sorry. But I'm sure you won't mind playing to your own music of choice . As for the public demo, I've decided that at least four brand new levels need to be developed before its release. Because all currently existing levels have been created for personal use and testing, they have an extremely steep learning curve, and are overly challenging - especially to a newcomer of RBG. So, I and the other level developer for the project (Chubble) will work on creating these new levels, which will ease the player into the world of Robo Go rather than throw them into a bunch of challenges which are above their experience. In the meantime, here's an older public demo - the first: http://ddelectronics.powweb.com/bahoo/Robo%20Go%20Beta%2012-6%20Public%20Demo%201.zip There is a certain level in the beta version 12 public demo which you can not proceed past, because of an error of mine. However you'll still be able to get a feel for the game, and a look at some of the more secret things that you won't be finding so easily in future demos . Press F1 at any time for game information, help, and controls. Enjoy, and keep in mind that there will be quite a few new additions in the beta version 13 public demo. Expect it sometime this weekend or early next week. Also: It doesn't freeze. Loading (the game, and the game's levels) often takes a while. Just be patient; find something to do while you wait . To acquire a new weapon, your current weapon must be the normal shot!
