Starting a New Return

When you first open TaxCut, the program displays the Welcome to TaxCut screen. Once you click on the Start a Tax Return button on the Welcome to TaxCut screen, the program displays the Start a Return screen.

To create a new return using imported data from your last year's return:

1. In the Import Last Year's Data list box, highlight the last year's return file you want to import data from by clicking on it.

2. Click the Import Selected Return button.

To create a new, blank return:

• Click the Create a New Return button.

Note: You create a state return by opening your federal return, clicking on the State tab and opening your state. TaxCut automatically transfers all applicable information from your federal return to your state return. TaxCut saves the information from your state return in the same file as your federal return.
