Backing Up Tax Return Files

We recommend that you periodically make a backup of your tax return files so that you can restore the file, if necessary.

To backup your current tax return file from the TaxCut File menu:

  1. From the File menu, select Backup Tax Return. TaxCut displays the Backup As dialog box.

  2. Type a name for the backup file in the Name field or accept the default name displayed. TaxCut assumes you are copying the backup file to a disk in your removable drive. If you want to backup to a different drive and/or folder, navigate to the folder or disk where you want to save the backup file.

  3. Click OK.

To back up your current tax return file from the File tab:

  1. Insert a blank disk in your removable disk drive.

  2. Click on the File tab.

  3. Proceed through the screens until you reach the Backup Your Entire Tax Return File screen.

  4. Click the Backup TaxCut File button. The Backup As dialog box opens.

  5. Type a name for the backup file in the Name field or accept the default name displayed. TaxCut assumes you are copying the backup file to the disk in your removable drive. If you want to backup to a different drive and/or folder, navigate to the folder or disk where you want to save the backup file.

  6. Click OK.
