Importing Address Book Information

TaxCut allows you to import the following personal information from your Address Book into your tax return:

Importing Address Book Information after Importing Last Year's Data

If you imported information from your last year's tax return, TaxCut compares the imported information against the information in your Address Book. If the data you imported from last year's return does not match an Address Book entry with the same name, TaxCut notifies you and allows you to select which information to use in your return. You can continue to use the imported data from last year's return or you can import the information from your Address Book. If the entry in your Address Book is incorrect, TaxCut also lets you update it with the information you imported from last year's return.

To import information from your Address Book:

  1. When you get to the Enter Your Personal Information screen in the Interview, click the Import Information from Address Book button.

TaxCut checks for any differences between the data you imported from last year's return and the information in your Address Book. If differences are found, TaxCut displays the Conflicts with Imported Information dialog box listing both sets of information.

  1. Highlight the information you want to use (TaxCut or Address Book) by clicking on it.

Select Address Book if you want to import your Address Book information into the fields on the Personal Information screen. Select TaxCut if you don't want to use the information from your Address Book. If you want to update your Address book with the information you imported from last year's return, select TaxCut and click on the Update Address Book with the Selected Information check box to check it.

  1. Click the Use Selected Information button.

If you selected Address Book, TaxCut replaces the information listed in the Primary Taxpayer fields on the Personal Information Interview screen with the Address Book entries. If you selected TaxCut, the information on the Personal Information Interview screen remains the same. If you selected TaxCut and checked the Update Address Book with Selected Information check box, TaxCut updates your Address Book with the information from last year's return.

Importing Address Book Information Without Importing Last Year's Data

If you did not import data from last year's return, you can still import information from your Address Book into TaxCut.

  3. From the list, select the person whose information you would like to import to highlight it. If you don't see the name, you can search for it using the Search box.
