Importing Data From Quicken 2008

If you're using Quicken 2008, TaxCut's Import Wizard explains how to export data from Quicken 2008. After you have exported data from Quicken, you can then use the Import Wizard to import the data into TaxCut.

To import data using the Interview:

  1. On the Federal tab follow the instructions that TaxCut displays until you get to the Import Data From Financial Software screen.

  2. Select Yes, and then click Next.

  3. Select Quicken 2008, and then click Next. TaxCut displays the Import Wizard.

  4. Follow the instructions for exporting Quicken tax data, and then click Import. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Data from...dialog box.

  5. Select the Quicken tax data file you created and click Open. If the file is located in a different folder, navigate to that folder.

  6. Follow the instructions for exporting Quicken capital gains data, and then click Import. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Data from...dialog box.

  7. Select the Quicken capital gains data file you created and click Open. If the file is located in a different folder, navigate to that folder.

  8. TaxCut automatically imports your data.

To import data using the File menu:

You must first export data from Quicken. Follow the instructions listed below:

  1. Open Quicken.

  2. Create a Tax Schedule Report. Make sure you create a Tax Schedule Report, NOT a Tax Summary Report.

  3. Click Export on the Tax Schedule Report button bar.

  4. Save the Tax Schedule Report in your TaxCut directory. Make sure you give the file name a .txf extension and specify the file type as Tax Export File.

  5. Using your Investment Account, create a Capital Gains Report.

  6. Click Export on the Capital Gains Report button bar.

  7. Save the Capital Gains Report in your TaxCut directory. Make sure you give the file name a .txf extension and specify the file type as

  8. Open TaxCut.

  9. From the File menu, choose Import Financial Information. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Information dialog box.

  10. Select Quicken and version 2008, and then click OK.  TaxCut displays the Import Financial Data from... dialog box.

  11. Select the tax export file (.txf) file you created, and click Open. TaxCut automatically displays the Import Report. You can change the imported information at this time.

  12. Repeat steps 9 through 11, only this time select the capital gains export file (.txf) file you created.

As you go through the Interview, TaxCut displays the data that you imported as green text. Change anything you need to at that time. You can also view and change the imported information any time by selecting Review Financial Imports from the Reports menu to display the Import Report.
