In versions of Quicken from 2004 and earlier, you must first export regular and capital gains tax information into a Tax Interchange File (.txf) format and then you can import the data into TaxCut.
Note: Make sure you create a Tax Schedule Report, NOT a Tax Summary Report.
If you are using Quicken 98: Go to the Reports menu, select Home, and then move the cursor to the right and select Tax Schedule. The Create Report dialog appears. Click Create. Quicken generates the Tax Schedule Report.
If you are using Quicken 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, or 2004: Go to the Reports menu, select Taxes, and then move the cursor to the right and select Tax Schedule. The Create Report dialog appears. Click Create. Quicken generates the Tax Schedule Report.
Click Export. Quicken displays the Create Tax Export File dialog box.
In the Directories list, navigate to your TaxCut directory. For example, if you installed TaxCut in the directory C:\Program Files\TaxCut07, double-click the C:\ folder, double-click the Program Files folder, and then double-click the TaxCut07 folder.
In the File name field, enter a name for the export file.
In the Files of type field, make sure the selected type is Tax export files (*.TXF).
Click OK. Quicken creates the export file.
