To import tax information from Microsoft Money 2004 into TaxCut, you must first export the data from Microsoft Money into a Tax Interchange File (.txf) format and then import it into TaxCut.
Open Microsoft Money 2004.
From the File menu, select "Export To Tax Software."
In the pull-down list, select the tax year for the year's return you are completing, and click Continue
Check off the tax items you wish to transfer into TaxCut, and click Continue.
In the left pane, select "Use tax software."
Click "Export your tax information as a data file you can use with any software program." The Export Tax dialog appears.
In the File name field, enter a name for the export file.
In the Save as type field, make sure Tax Exchange Format (*.txf) is shown.
Click OK. Microsoft Money creates the export file that you can import into TaxCut.
On the Federal tab follow the instructions that TaxCut displays until you get to the Import Data From Financial Software screen.
Select Yes, and then click Next.
Select "Other program that supports Tax Exchange Format (TXF)", and then click Next.
Click Import. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Information from... dialog box.
Select the file you want to import and click Open. If the file you want to import is in a different folder, navigate to that folder and select it. TaxCut automatically imports your data.
From the File menu, choose Import Financial Information. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Information dialog box.
Select "Other TXF", and click OK. TaxCut displays the Import Financial Data from... dialog box.
Select the file you want to import, and click Open. If the file you want to import is in a different folder, navigate to that folder and select it. TaxCut automatically displays the Import Report. You can change the imported information at this time.
As you go through the Interview, TaxCut displays the data that you imported as green text. Change anything you need to at that time. You can also view and change the imported information any time by selecting Review Financial Imports from the Reports menu to display the Import Report.
