When you choose to file your Federal extension electronically, TaxCut reviews your extension and determines if it qualifies for e-filing. If it doesn't qualify, TaxCut notifies you and lists the reasons why.
Below is a summary of some of the restrictions that the IRS places on the types of Federal extensions that can be filed electronically. The list is not complete; TaxCut's electronic filing system will check for other exclusions.
Your name must be entered correctly and in agreement with IRS records.
Your spouse's name (if married filing jointly) must be entered correctly and in agreement with IRS records.
Your Social Security number must be present and valid.
Your spouse's Social Security number (if married filing jointly) must also be valid.
Taxpayer date of birth must be present and valid.
Spouse date of birth (if married filing jointly) must also be valid.
Your Form 4868 must be e-filed no later than April 15, 2008. If you file on time but your return is rejected, you have until April 20, 2008 to make corrections and re-file.
A complete phone number is required. (The phone number must not be all zeros or all nines, or a valid area code followed by all zeros or all nines.)
Line 4 in Form 4868 cannot be negative.
A military address must be filled in correctly.
Your Email address must have a valid format.
Foreign addresses are not allowed.
