How do I know if my electronically filed return was accepted by the IRS?
The IRS processes each return it receives and assigns an acknowledgment status of either accepted or rejected. We receive these acknowledgments and make them available for you to receive.
If you have not received an acknowledgment, click the Check Status button on the Filing tab. If your computer does not automatically connect to the Internet as needed, you should connect now. Once you are connected to the Internet, TaxCut will connect to our Electronic Filing Center to receive the acknowledgment.
Note: The IRS may take up to four days to acknowledge the return.
How many returns can I e-file?
You can file up to 5 returns electronically. You can file an unlimited number of paper returns.
How many state returns can I e-file with my federal return?
TaxCut allows only one state resident return to be e-filed with a federal return. TaxCut allows the e-filing of part-year resident or nonresident returns only for the states of California, New York, Massachusetts, Missouri, and New Jersey. Additionally, TaxCut allows the e-filing of part-year returns for Maryland.
I've already electronically filed my return, but I just noticed that it contains an error. What should I do?
The IRS has already started processing your return and your refund, if you're expecting one. In TaxCut, complete Form 1040X, Amended Individual Income Tax Return. See Opening a Form.
It's almost April 15th and my electronically filed return was rejected. I now need to submit my return on standard paper forms and I'm afraid I won't make the deadline. What should I do?
Write the following by hand at the top of paper Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ:
TIMELY FILED REJECTED ELECTRONIC RETURN
This should ensure that you won't be hit with a late filing penalty.
