Compare This Year's Data to Last Year's Report

When you import data from last year's TaxCut or TurboTax, TaxCut creates the Compare This Year's Data to Last Year's report. This report lets you:

To display the report:

TaxCut displays the report in the Report window. The information in the report is grouped by tax form. For each tax form, TaxCut shows:

Not all values are carried by default. TaxCut tries to make reasonable assumptions about which values are still appropriate for this year's return, and which values you have to change. For example, if you had interest income from a bank last year, TaxCut assumes that you probably have interest income from the same bank this year. Therefore, TaxCut carries the bank's name to the 2006 column, but not the interest earned amount, because you probably have to enter a new amount for this year.

To change imported values:

  1. Move the cursor to the 2006 column.

  2. Enter a new value.

If you want to remove a value from the 2006 column, just delete the current value in the 2006 column.

To display a related form:

If you change the value directly on the form, the Compare This Year's Data to Last Year's report is updated to reflect the change after you recalculate (from the Tools menu, choose Recalculate). If you change the value on the report, the form is updated. The most recent change you make—no matter where you make it—is carried to all the relevant places in your return.
