Tax laws and forms can change throughout the tax season. They may even have changed since we released the program! It's important to periodically update your copy of TaxCut to make sure that you have the latest changes.
TaxCut prompts you to check for a software update at the beginning of the Interview process, periodically while you're completing your return, and before you file your return. Or you can periodically check for an update on your own.
Select the Update TaxCut button when it is displayed, or go to the Tools menu, and select Update TaxCut.
TaxCut displays the Software Manager dialog box. if your computer doesn't automatically connect to the Internet as needed, connect now, and click Next.
Note: If TaxCut displays the Cannot Connect to the Server dialog box, check the following and then click Try Again:
Check to make sure you are connected to the internet.
Disable any firewall software that may be preventing connection.
If you connect via a proxy server, you may need to change your computer's proxy settings.
Once a successful connection is made, TaxCut checks to see which updates are available.
If updates are available, TaxCut lists which programs have updates (Federal, State, and/or Help) and the estimated download time. Simply click Next to begin the download process. TaxCut displays a progress bar as the update downloads to your computer.
If all your programs are up-to-date and no updates are available, TaxCut notifies you of any future releases planned for your Federal and/or State programs and the date of those releases. Click Finish to return to TaxCut.
Once an update download is finished, you will be prompted to install the updates.
If you are having problems using TaxCut's automatic update process or if you have Internet access on a different computer from the one you prepared your return on, you can download the update from our Update Center.
