Why do the values of items vary so greatly according to the quality of an item?

Our data is weighted to reflect the most common quality of items that are donated to charity. Most donations fall into the Minor Wear to Average Wear quality range. For this reason, the difference in these two values is much smaller.

Like New quality items are meant to represent items of only the highest quality. For example, items that are considered Like New are things such as:

By contrast, Heavy Wear quality items are items which have very little residual value. They are the items that are generic in manufacture and that didn’t start out as being high quality. They may also be items that are fairly well worn, and don’t have much life left in them.

Only a small percentage of items generally fall into the Like New or Heavy Wear categories. DeductionPro gives you a large range between Like New and Heavy Wear values so that you can select the quality that accurately applies to your goods.
