DeductionPro provides flexibility for entering and managing charitable information, such as a charitys name or address, or the mileage associated with a charity. Although the Manage Charities tab is usually the place where you enter information about a charity, you can enter or edit this information on other tabs as well.
You can add a new charity on any tab. This means that you can add a charity while youre entering donations and expenses. Heres how DeductionPro handles the entries:
If you add a new charity on the Item Donations, Money Donations, or Expenses & Mileage tab, the charity is automatically added to the Manage Charities tab.
If you change the name of a charity on the Manage Charities tab, DeductionPro automatically updates the name on all the other tabs as well.
If you change the address of a charity on the Manage Charities tab, DeductionPro automatically updates the address on the Item Donations tab.
Conversely, if you change the address of a charity on the Item Donations tab, the address is automatically updated on the Manage Charities tab.
To effectively enter and manage your mileage entries in DeductionPro, its helpful to understand how DeductionPro handles the entries that you make:
If you enter mileage on the Manage Charities tab, DeductionPro automatically enters the value in the Miles box on the Item Donations and Expenses & Mileage tab when you enter a donation or expense.
When you enter mileage on the Item Donations tab, DeductionPro automatically creates an entry for you on the Expenses & Mileage tab.
If you enter mileage when you add a new charity on the Item Donations tab, DeductionPro automatically enters the mileage on the Manage Charities tab.
If you enter mileage on the Expenses & Mileage tab, only that entry is affected. DeductionPro does not enter the mileage on the Manage Charities or Item Donations tab.
When you update the mileage for a particular charity, DeductionPro does the following:
If you modify the mileage for a charity on the Manage Charities tab, DeductionPro will use the updated value for all future donation and expense entries that you enter. However, DeductionPro does not update the mileage of existing entries on the Item Donations and Expenses & Mileage tabs.
If you modify the mileage associated with an entry on the Expenses & Mileage tab, DeductionPro also updates the mileage on the Manage Charities tab. If there is a corresponding entry (same date) on the Item Donations tab, DeductionPro will update the mileage for that entry as well. However, if you have other entries for the same charity on the Item Donations tab, those entries will not be updated.
Before you delete an entry in DeductionPro, its important to understand what happens when you do:
If you delete a charity on the Manage Charities tab, DeductionPro automatically deletes all the entries associated with the charity. This means that any donations or expenses that you entered on the Item Donations, Money Donations, or Expenses & Mileage tabs associated with the deleted charity are also deleted.
If you delete an entry on the Item Donations tab, DeductionPro automatically deletes the associated mileage entry on the Mileage & Expenses tab.
If you delete an entry on the Mileage & Expenses tab, only that entry is deleted. The associated entry on the Item Donations tab is not deleted.
If you delete an entry on the Money Donations tab, only that entry is deleted.
