What should I enter in the Benefit Received column?

Use the Benefit Received column to enter the dollar value of any goods or services that you received in connection with your donation.

Many times during fundraisers, organizations offer you some sort of benefit as a way of saying thank you for your donation. The IRS requires that you subtract the amount of that benefit from the amount that you donated. Organizations will often list the value of the benefit in a letter that they send you.

For example, if you donated $75.00 to a charity and received a hat worth $10.00, then you would enter $10.00 in the Benefit Received column.

If you did not receive any goods or services in exchange for your donation, just leave the field blank.
