In inline MIDI editing mode, you can draw, paint, and erase MIDI notes directly on the timeline.

When you're in inline MIDI editing mode, you can use the scroll buttons at the left edge of the track to navigate the piano roll/drum grid:

If you want to increase the track height, drag the bottom border of the track header.

You can draw and paint MIDI notes in much the same way you create events in the timeline.

  • You can use the Draw tool to insert, edit, select, and move notes.
  • You can use the Paint tool to insert notes of a specific length. Click the down arrow next to the Paint tool to set the desired note length. The Paint tool is different from the Draw tool in that it can cross note row boundaries. Use the Paint tool to add a random element to your projects.
  • If you use the Draw or Paint tool in an area of the timeline that does not contain an event, an event will be created. You can then add notes to the event.

When you are ready to continue, click the Next button.
