Visceral groove, very atmospheric, frantic, yet the clarity...it's BOSS MUSIC, and I happen to agree with the point. PS: Hi KungFuFurby. ________ A Song for My Cat Comments: An interesting cat anthem. I like that breakdown 25secs in, to an autotuned cat song. Hahaha. Very clever that is, though the arrangement feels a tad jerky. ________ Akira Yamaoka vs Ken Ishii Comments: Something in my gut tells me this is the work of qualo. While I'm a little iffy on the nature of some sounds present in this piece (in fact, I'd like to know how you obtained a perfect kick sound here), this is one of the best examples so far displaying the extent of extreme sample manipulation, or simply blending a mishmash of rubbish into something attractive, with all the glitter and sound-designy zing present in commercial electronic tracks. PS: Legit or not, it's probably going to mark very high. ________ Alleyway in Chinatown Comments: Chinese cat gangsters, but there's not enough pentatonic. I like the groove from this. The second half to finish up made me smile. Very nice use of the guitar sample. ________ Aqua Aura Pura Comments: Hi Lunar. So this was the dropped hint of use of a vocoder. A lot of autochording, and the start is a tad loud (though I suppose it's intended?). This is probably one of your louder productions. The high pitched deathbells are very nice, and certainly make up most of the 'watery' textures perceived. ________ Aya Hirano's Megaton Punch Comments: This is a pretty silly piece, haha. The progression is a tad repetitive. I like the use of the singing bit in the middle of the piece. Those fast arp runs, it tries to sound like lunar but it's not his style. Maxo or qualo perhaps? :S ________ Bad Tekno Comments: This is a truly bizaare amalgamagtion of a BDSM fetish intertwined with an alternative disco beatbox session. I like that telephone ringy sound gained in the second half, though what the heck was the end? I'm sure I've heard it before..... dusthillguy? ________ Candy Rock Jam Comments: Definitely one of the top entries this is to start with, but by the middle of the song I thought it lost its momentum, though those transitions were nice. Singing with the singing girl is a nice touch...I can't think who did this, buti t's definitely someone who attends #mod_shrine or #maj7. HNNGH the deception. ________ Cloudtrip Comments: This felt a tad rough for me, to be a cloudy piece despite the reverb and melodic elements. The transition to a more, DnB feel certainly does sound great and while slightly resonant, it's definitely well mixed and demonstrates very well the versatility of sample manipulation. (The conga-sounding drum loop, and the garyoaktimemachine sample used as a guitarbass sort of thing.) ________ Corruption of the Tune Comments: I couldn't work out how to use the Stravnsky saw sample, the use here earns my respect. This definitely sounds like boss music of sorts, with steady beats and frantic cues of several samples to highlight the overall dancy pace. It's a bit long and repetitive, but I do like the general sound of this piece, however the ending seemed tacked on, yet fitting. PS: Hi KungFuFurby. ________ Cyberdemon Boogie Comments: If this is a fitting theme song to a happy Cyberdemon, of Doom fame, maybe I wouldn't be so scared of its rocket-toting pleasure of blowing you to pieces...oh who am I kidding. This piece definitely sounds strangely danceable, and maintains a steady structure. I applaud the rhythmic use of samples I thought would be impossible to incpororate effectively. ________ DanielDellaCocco Comments: Hi dusthillguy. This is certainly a slightly different take on your usual compositional style, given the nature of the samples. Interesting you've dedicated this tune to Rocco (i c wat u did thar). I like the koto-sounding melodic lead you've got out of the samples. ________ Deep Throat Tengoku Comments: Innuendo aside, this song certainly sounds pretty...visceral and conveys a pretty visual message on listen. Hilarious, and very creative use of the swallowing and vocal samples; no I'm not gonna "swallow, you slut." ;) I really want to know who made this, it's genius. Hahaha ________ Doctor Mars Comments: This sounds Maxo-ish with the groove and choice of harmony here. It's almost like a kids street beat tune for a game. The time sig, the rhythmic switches, the arps, I like it, but it's too short. :( ________ Everybody Wants Overcalculated Scientist Orgasms Comments: This is a faux-chillout/softcore pron sounding piece with the slow pace and low pitch harmonies and noise floor. The autochord progression here is nice. ________ Extra Antler Velvet Comments: A short swing rock piece, a bit of an unexpected approach to the use of the tingy saw patch. It's quite loud. Give or take, I have a feeling it's a trollpiece. Haha. ________ Gateway to Happiness Comments: Whoa, space meow pads. That's awesome, what is this, total ambient dance. I like the use of the singing girl timbre on this. It's a tad long and repetitive, but it seriously reminds me of those 80's science documetnary background music. PS Hi KungFuFurby. ________ Go Go Power! Comments: Pulse guitar arp? Hm, this is like untz but isn't untz. The piece isn't catching my fancy, though the bit in the middle (1.30) sounded nice. PS: Hi KFF. ________ Green Grass Comments: I think this is qualo's second piece. Very fun, it's almost deceptively criminal. Cute melody, cute progression, cute latin groove with a bouncy bass....but it's too short. :( I like the organish sound used on this, wonderign what is the source sample. ________ How to Open a Can of SPC Comments: This is more autochord dance boss music. Hehe. I like the use of the twinklechord on this. This would certainly fit in a puzzle game for background music. PS: Hi KFF. ________ I sneak up and hitcha in the crotch Comments: I hit you in the crotch so hard, I tried to pull a lunar but failed. MISERABLY. :( The odd timesigs are wonky, but it sounds more like a followup to modulo, like a boss theme counterpart. Did a sneaky thing with the pulse sample to make a square, as well as layered the bass and part of the alias samples together to get a dirty fm slap bass kind of sound. ________ King of the Crypt Comments: Inverted pulse intro receves a NO from me. The tune reminds me too much about what I hate about C64 SID music with the constantly running pulse arp melody. Compositionally, the rhythm doesn't really go anywhere, however I do like the use of the samples in context here. PS: Destroid? ________ Legend of Sample Pack Compo Comments: Twinklechord arpeggio. Nice. Certainly fits intro music, but it repeats waaaaay too much. I can hear the stereo field wasn't incorporated this time. PS: Hi KFF. ________ Martian Lab at Midnight Comments: Maxo? This is ACE. A total funk piece with an incomprehensible high pitched heykids to make it sound like a pseudo rap. Compositionally, this is a well thought out short piece. That mid-section solo and progression is very fun, almost cinematic. Haha. This is TOTAL Funk Fusion. ________ Medium Zero Comments: Sup Kris. Still continuing the Medium series of songs eh. Still has taht spacey feel as usual. I like the tom substitutes and the scratch sample here. That bassline sound near the end is very nice, very raw sounding. ________ Mr. Huffletuff's Kitty Cat Cosmic Escapades Comments: More catsongs. Whee. It's almost like a dreamscape for a cat's dream to be in a video game. blue.nocturne, if entered? Very bright textures with lots of reverb and sound effects all over the place, with an appropriate compositional structure. Does your cat love this song? :P ________ No Bananas for Deborah Comments: Taking twinklechords and the other key arp sample. That brushy percussion is nice, certainly tries to sound like it responds to jazz music's tendencies of going off on a tangent despite being consistent. I like it. ________ Nobody Wants Overcalculated Scientist Orgasms Comments: Alter ego of "everybody _______" eh. This one sounds a lot more cinematic with a strong transition into the main beat. God damn, the second half made me come with those chord changes. Total Chick Corea, only BDSM gal hates you. :P ________ Omnious Abbey Comments: Hmmm, eerie ambience piece, albeit a tad loud, then turns into a Ghostbusters/80's pastiche? Hahaha. The garyoakstimemachine sample works very well with this song, though it seemed a tad repetitive, but hey, it's keeping me on edge. Cue deathbell. ________ Our Heliocentric Garden Comments: FANTASTIC use of the Twinklechord abuse here. Very harmonic, very lush. Almost like a dream piece when on a long drive, about to pass out with the radio on. I like the percussive alias sample usage here. Definitely a top contender. ________ PRUNEAU Comments: Wavesequency intro, I like it. It might not have a melody, but I like the percussive nature of this song in general, some interesting sounds gained from the resonant filtering, and groovin to the downbeat. Almost like a drummachine demo. ________ Riding the Duckdragon Comments: Duckdragon, #mod_shrine alert. I lke the distorted percussion and the mix of the sawhit and tchaikovsky hits used as orchestra hits. The structure is a bit awkward, but it seems incomplete. I smell qualo. ________ Seven Proxies Comments: Seven-time abuse here. It's almost systematic, but I dunno if I agree with the composition. Bass piano, very sneaky. I can't think who would make this, but those percussions sound like lunar but something tells me it's not. It's disorienting and weird. ________ Slick Venus Comments: HNNGH THAT LEAD, Hello modshriner. smh? coda? If this is another attempt to win the compo, it just may. Slick, funky, very demoscene tracker sound. That scratchy percussion sample processing is well done for the loop. ________ Spaz Premium Comments: Hi Lunar. Two beatbox samples, so you just HAD to get your way and do an IDM beatbox showdown. SWEET. :D Total machinegun mayhem. Rahzel will be proud. ________ Tarot Pharoah Comments: Kris Troutman possibly. I like the arabian/gypsy feel of this piece, though the reverb keeps making me think space egyptians. Very nice use of the singing girl and hit samples. Damn man. ________ Ten-Chan Looks Like Joey Wheeler Comments: Bagging dubstep with the lack of wob bass, but wobbing everything else. Nice job, I like the idea here. The cats in the background is quite eerie. ________ Tertiary Jump Comments: Hi Lunar. True to your #maj7 fashion, you remain to oddtime syncopation, arps, autochord modes. I like the key sample use here. Second half, the compression makes it sound pretty warm. ________ The Incredible Cat Mincer Comments: Sloppy composition of mine involving a story of a group of cats on the way to their final destination, that is the conveyer belt to the incredible cat mincer. I opted not to use the hit samples for orch hit, and instead reverbed a clip of the noisy scream from the dominatrix sample. Also used Melodyne editor to isolate the other partials from the twinkle chords to get a percussive organish key sample. PS: Please clean up that mess of dim sim entrails after listening. ________ Tidal Chamber Comments: Anotehr ambientish piece, very bright. I can picture a rainforest cave pond listening to this. The slow movement and progression sounds very cinematic. (Gotta love the twinklechords). Is that PSG-ish square pad? :D ________ Trop Glop Flop Comments: Possibly Kris Troutman. Another dark piece, I often wonder how you get those voicelike pad textures, singing girl I suppose. Very nice use of the filtered square pad and chord hits. Trippy, certainly. ________ TV Surfer Comments: TV noise dance. Hi KFF. This almost makes me think of what an isolated teenager would do if eh wanted to get into music, and all he had is a bunch of electronics and random tools. PS: hi KFF. Breathing the sidechain are we? ________ U.B. Funky Comments: Awkward swing. Not doing it for me. Yet another dance track here. I'd love to know how you got that FMish sound at 2min in, that's cool. PS: hi KFF. ________ Untitled Comments: Eerie beginning. That's the first time I've heard someone use my deathmetleurr sample. haha. Very minimalistic, then the momentum builds up to tension on the second half. Very nice arrangement of smaple use here. ________ Way Out - No Way Comments: Twinklechords arpeggio. Prety mellow piece but it's entirely arpeggiated. Nice cueing I suppose, but needs/is too short for what it's worth. PS: hi KFF. ________ We Hate the 1998 Wave Comments: Hi KFF. (Jesus how many tracks) Leading out of the end of the 90's, boss music comes in again. (followup to that 2012 piece?) I think this is the best of your lot, very dance-cinematic, the tension works here. ________ Welcome to SPC 6 Comments: Hi KFF. So this was an intended intro to SPC 6 eh, well I like the other piece better, but this works. Middle section vaguely reminds me of Jazz Jackrabbit a bit. ________ WHAT THE @#$%!! Comments: Getting into the orchestral tension theme here are we? Perfect use of samples here, and the cueing of the buildup to the large scale doom. Very inspired orchestral sound to this, props to you for getting the sound out of these garbage sounds. PS: Rocco? ________ Whippin' Good Comments: Hi KFF. More dance music, this time it's a BDSM rape orgy. It's more boss music haha. Though that end bit felt tacked on. ________ WorldJ Comments: Hi dusthillguy. The samples work here, but the composition seems like you've done this in a single sitting in frot of the keyboard. Simple progression sounds good with more pentatonic. Sad to say this doesn't do it for me. ________ Zen You Reach Ze State of Completeness Comments: This sounds like a chip-inspired piece with the odd-looped square samples. Very slow pacing here, it's almost like an FM song but isn't. The state of completeness I probably didn't reach that far, but this is a bit too slow paced for my taste.
