Preamble: My company builds the Bigscreen Beyond. I have access to all resources which could be needed for this project. Source code, electronics BOM, etc. Goal: Enable the Beyond to be used as a 3DOF-possibly-6DOF wearable spatial display without changing the hardware, and without relying on external tracking solutions like SteamVR lighthouses. UX must be as simple and low-friction as possible. Target platforms: Windows and Linux minimum. -Better, anything that can output displayport. -Absolute best, anything that can output HDMI or DP through the OEM USB-C cable alone, getting rid of the linkbox in the chain. SteamVR ideally not needed. SteamVR compatibility is a plus, and probably the best platform for a first proof-of-concept (+ Monado for linux?). Considerations/possibilities to enable this: - Write new/updated firmwares for: - MCU (incl. bootloader, if needed) - VXR7200 - Eye tracking FPGA - Reverse engineer the onboard Tundra SIP for gyro+accelerometer stream - AP-side driver app - If SteamVR is foregone, reimplement its warp mesh for optical distortion correction
