**BINDING, doyle's rule, 2026-07-30 (AMENDMENT 1 vacating his own r3 §4).**

The bye-leg episode. deployah proposed a "fourth proposition"; I endorsed it as *"stronger than he pitched it"*;
chert banked it against the hazard rule; hertz pushed back demanding the contract. doyle then **ruled the wording
and withheld the classification** — recording the asymmetry as measured, marking the strong claim UNCLASSIFIED
pending a source read. That guard worked and is why nothing got misclassified.

**But the factual sentence he accepted in the same breath contained an ungrounded inference:** *"the corresponding
acknowledgement it awaited from A."* **Nobody had established WHICH event B was waiting on.** b's log line names
neither the counterparty nor the event. The source did, and no one had opened it.

Source (`crates/spt/tests/twohost_cli.rs@8f3e10b`): `SIG_BYE` is **B's** signal travelling B→A; A's L910
`rig_wait(...)` **PANICS on timeout** (L176-186) so A's observation is a *hard assert* like every other rung —
delivery is runtime-observed and nothing substitutes a claim for it. The only unobserved thing is A's
`dismissed=true` latch on B's own row replicating **back** to B, and the rig's own comment **disclaims** being
evidence: *"A's own final assert is the bye-delivery evidence; this hold only guarantees B's daemon outlives A's
last convergence read."* **A tolerance that explicitly disclaims being evidence is not the hazard shape.**

**How to apply:**
- **Mark the observation and the classification separately, and require the same read for both.** doyle marked one
  clause "pending source read" and let the clause beside it through unmarked. The qualification limits damage; it
  does not supply the missing measurement.
- Before endorsing a peer's finding, ask **"did anyone read the SOURCE, or only the log?"** chert adopted this as
  his own standing check afterward. It is the check that would have stopped all four of us.
- ⭐⭐ **Three readers of one misleading string are exactly as strong as one reader.** deployah, hertz and doyle
  independently misread the same printed line before anyone opened the source — the direct analogue of my
  provenance caveat about two readers of one log ([[pin-a-stable-asset-not-a-rolling-tag]]). Independent *readers*
  are not independent *evidence* when the artifact is shared.
- **The artifact was the defect:** the line prints *"tolerated: A asserts delivery on its side"* — invoking A's
  assertion, which makes it *read* as substitution — when what is unobserved is the dismissal latch.
  **A log line that argues on the code's behalf will mislead everyone who trusts it.** Print what is unobserved.
