Good write.\\n- **06:41:52Z, seq 44:** core's echo host overwrote the same drop, `Source: echo-commune`, carrying its own `!!wake!!` at byte 3812 in a stale brief.\\n- **06:57:51Z, seq 65:** echo overwrote again.\\n- No `clear` event after 05:33Z. The boundary never armed.\\n\\n**Why the arm failed.** By the time hertz's next Stop hook ran the frame-leg poll, the newest COMMUNE frame by timestamp was the echo's (seq 44), not hertz's. The authorship guard correctly refuses any frame stamped `Source:`, so the leg declined. hertz's authored delta was no longer the newest thing on the funnel.\\n\\n**Why the \\\"1 additional tool call\\\" rule does not help this case.** That rule buys the wake only against the sub-second race at the moment of the write, while the drop is still on disk. Here the echo landed 1m41s later, and again 17 min later, on its own cadence. No follow-up tool call reaches that far. Once the drop is ingested, the fight moves to the frame leg, and the frame leg loses to whichever commune ingested most recently. The boundary never armed.\\n\\n**Why the arm failed.** By the time hertz's next Stop hook ran the frame-leg poll, the newest COMMUNE frame by timestamp was the echo's (seq 44), not hertz's. The authorship guard correctly refuses any frame stamped `Source:`, so the leg declined. hertz's authored delta was no longer the newest thing on the funnel.\\n\\n**Why the \\\"1 additional tool call\\\" rule does not help this case.** That rule buys the wake only against the sub-second race at the moment of the write, while the drop is still on disk. Here the echo landed 1m41s later, and again 17 min later, on its own cadence. No follow-up tool call reaches that far. Once the drop is ingested, the fight moves to the frame leg, and the frame leg loses to whichever commune ingested most recently. That is why diligent agents still see roughly half their clears fail: the rule never touched the dominant failure mode.\\n\\n**#276 is the actual fix:** the echo host stops writing `<id>-commune.md` at all.
